FAQ-Frequently Asked Questions – Fingerscan Digital Inc
Answers to the most common fingerprinting and background check questions from individuals, attorneys, healthcare providers, and HR teams.
1. What is your Live Scan fingerprinting fee?
Our Live Scan rolling fee is $35, excluding the state-imposed DOJ and FBI processing fees. These government fees are standardized across all vendors.
2. How fast can I get FBI background check results?
We provide FBI fingerprint background check results within 30 minutes to 1 hour. Results are securely emailed or printed upon request.
3. What do I get with fingerprint card service?
Our ink card fingerprinting includes two FD-258 cards per applicant, suitable for immigration, out-of-state licensing, or federal use.
4. What ID is required for Live Scan?
You'll need a valid, unexpired photo ID (driver’s license, state ID, or passport). If unavailable, bring two secondary forms (e.g., birth certificate, Social Security card).
5. Do you offer mobile Live Scan for groups?
Yes! We offer on-site fingerprinting for groups of 10 or more at your location—ideal for HR teams, schools, clinics, or law firms.
6. How long do Live Scan results take?
Live Scan results usually take 5–10 business days. Processing time may be longer if you have a criminal record.
Note: Live Scan vendors do not receive your results. Only the agency listed on your request form will receive them.
7. Can I run my own background check to see my criminal history?
Yes. You have two options:
- Record Review: California DOJ only. Cannot be used for employment.
- FBI Background Check: See both federal and state criminal history.
8. Do I need an ORI number to complete Live Scan?
Yes. The ORI (Originating Agency Identifier) is required to ensure DOJ routes your results to the correct agency.
9. Do I need an OCA number?
Not all applicants need one. However, if you're working with the Department of Social Services, you'll need an OCA/facility number for ORI A0448 to route results correctly.
10. Do you accept walk-ins?
Yes! We welcome all walk-ins during business hours. No appointment necessary.
11. Is scheduling an appointment required?
Appointments are optional. Walk in at your convenience or schedule online for faster service.
12. Who do you work with for fingerprinting services?
We serve individuals and businesses, including:
- Attorneys & law firms
- Nursing & medical professionals
- HR departments & recruiters
- Security & firearm license applicants
- Senior homecare & healthcare facilities
- Notary applicants
- Schools, districts, and childcare centers
- Nonprofit organizations
13. Can I use my fingerprint results for multiple purposes?
No. Each Live Scan is agency-specific. You must complete separate Live Scans for different agencies or licensing boards.
14. I’ve been rejected twice at other Live Scan locations. Can you help?
Yes. Our technicians are trained in advanced rolling techniques to reduce the chance of rejection. If your prints are still unreadable after two attempts, you may qualify for a name-based background check.
We will review your rejection form and help guide you through the next steps to avoid further delays.
