Notary public San Jose

Notarization, done in minutes

A California notary public San Jose verifies the signer’s identity and witnesses the signature. The notarial act doesn’t make a document legal — it certifies you signed willingly and are who you say.

Most documents fall into two categories: an acknowledgment (you’re acknowledging that you signed) or a jurat (you’re swearing the contents are true). California Civil Code §8211 caps either at $15 per signature — the exact rate our notary public San Jose office charges.

Whether you’re notarizing an estate-planning document, a power of attorney, a child travel consent, or an immigration affidavit, walk in and your notary services Bay Area visit is typically completed in a few minutes.

What we notarize

Documents we handle every day

From simple affidavits to complex estate-planning packages — our notary public San Jose service covers the full range of document types our community needs.

Affidavits & sworn statements

Sworn declarations, affidavits of identity, lost-document affidavits, and statements made under oath (jurats).

Power of attorney

General, durable, financial, and limited power of attorney documents. Often paired with apostille for international use.

Estate planning & trusts

Living trusts, trust amendments, advance health care directives, HIPAA authorizations, and pour-over wills.

Travel consent for minors

Child travel consent letters for international travel without one or both parents, common for split-family situations.

Real estate documents

Grant deeds, quitclaim deeds, deeds of trust, property transfers, and HOA forms. Note: full loan signings are handled separately.

Immigration documents

Affidavits of support, immigration declarations, sponsorship statements, and supporting documents for USCIS or consular filings.

Marital & family agreements

Pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements, marital separation agreements, parenting plans, and child support stipulations.

International & apostille-bound

Documents headed overseas often need notarization first, then California Secretary of State apostille. We handle both in one visit.

Bonded California credentials

Commissioned by the California Secretary of State

Our notaries are commissioned and bonded by the California Secretary of State, and we additionally hold a bonded California Immigration Consultant credential under §22441 — so we handle both the notary public San Jose service and the immigration paperwork that often accompanies it. That breadth is rare in walk-in offices.

For document drafting and disability-related legal services beyond our walk-in notary San Jose scope, our partner office TruPoint Legal handles those needs. High-volume business clients can learn about firm accounts at Fingerscan Digital, our B2B office.

How it works

What we handle — and what we don’t

Notarization and signing services have many flavors. We focus on what we do well at our walk-in office and on mobile visits.

What we do

Notary public San Jose service for the community

  • Acknowledgments and jurats on virtually any document
  • Walk-in service weekdays at our San Jose office
  • Mobile signings within 10 miles, including hospital and care-facility visits
  • Trilingual notary — English, Spanish, Vietnamese
  • Bundling with apostille, Live Scan, and I-9 in one visit
  • Bonded immigration consultant on staff for related paperwork
What we don’t do

Specialized work handled elsewhere

  • Full real estate loan signings — handled on a separate dedicated page (coming soon)
  • Remote Online Notarization (RON) — we’re in-person only; California RON registration is a separate process
  • Legal advice — consult a licensed attorney; we’re notaries and immigration consultants, not attorneys
  • Drafting documents — we notarize what you bring, but don’t prepare wills, trusts, or contracts
  • I-9 forms as a notarial act — our I-9 verification service is separate from notarization
Common questions

Frequently asked questions about notarization

What ID do I need to bring for notarization?
A current, valid government-issued photo ID. Acceptable forms include a California driver’s license or ID card, a driver’s license from any state (no more than 5 years old), US passport or passport card, foreign passport with US visa stamp, military ID, or a CDCR inmate ID card.
Do I sign the document before I come in?
No. Don’t pre-sign. California law requires you to sign in the notary’s presence (or to acknowledge in person that the signature is yours). Bring an unsigned document and we’ll witness the signing on the spot.
What’s the difference between an acknowledgment and a jurat?
An acknowledgment certifies the signer voluntarily signed. A jurat certifies the signer swore under oath that the contents are true. Both are capped at $15 per signature under California Civil Code §8211.
Do you accept walk-ins or do I need an appointment?
Walk in any time during business hours — Monday through Friday 9 AM to 6 PM, with Saturday available by appointment. Most notary public San Jose walk-ins are done in under 10 minutes. If you prefer a specific time slot, you can also book online or call (408) 766-3528.
Can you come to a hospital or care facility?
Yes. Mobile notary Bay Area visits to hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living, and private residences are common — especially for advance health care directives, power of attorney, and estate-planning documents.
Do you handle real estate loan signings?
For full mortgage and refinance loan signing packages, we offer that service on a separate dedicated page (coming soon). For grant deeds, quitclaim deeds, and individual real estate documents, walk in or schedule mobile and we’ll handle them at the standard $15 per signature.
Can you notarize documents in Spanish or Vietnamese?
Yes — our team speaks English, Spanish, and Vietnamese fluently. Note: California notaries can only complete the notarial certificate in English, but we explain the document and notarial act in your preferred language.
I need an apostille after notarization. Can you do both?
Yes. Documents bound for international use often need notarization first, then a California Secretary of State apostille. We handle both at our office — see our apostille services page for details.
