FD-258 Fingerprint Cards in San Jose
for Out-of-State Licensing

Fingerscan Digital hand-rolls FBI-standard FD-258 ink fingerprint cards in San Jose and across California for licenses, certifications, immigration, and court cases handled in other states. We roll your prints in ink on the official hard card — we do not print digital prints onto the card — so out-of-state boards, courts, and agencies accept them, with walk-in and mobile appointments and trilingual service.

Need a hard-copy FD-258 card to mail to a licensing board, court, or agency in another state? Walk in or book a mobile visit and leave with classifiable, ink-rolled cards the same day.

What is an FD-258 fingerprint card?

An FD-258 is the official FBI fingerprint card — a heavy paper “hard card” where each finger is rolled in ink to capture classifiable ridge detail. Many licensing boards, courts, and agencies in other states still require this physical card mailed in, rather than an electronic Live Scan submission that only works inside California.

If you live in the Bay Area but need a license, certification, or clearance in another state, this is almost always the FD-258 fingerprint card you were told to get. We hand-roll it in ink at our San Jose office or at your location, then hand it back ready to mail. We do not print a digital scan onto the card — agencies that ask for an ink card want a true rolled impression.

Need an electronic submission to the California DOJ or FBI instead? That is Live Scan fingerprinting, a separate service.

Simple & fast

How an ink fingerprint card appointment works

Most visits take about 15 minutes for a single card, and you leave with it the same day.

1

Bring your card and ID

Bring the FD-258 card your board mailed you, or use one of ours, plus a valid government photo ID.

2

We roll your prints in ink

A trained technician hand-rolls each finger in ink onto the hard card for clean, classifiable ridge detail.

3

We complete the card

We fill in your personal details and any reason, ORI, or agency fields exactly the way your board requires.

4

Mail it or take backups

Walk out the same day with your finished card to mail, and add extra cards in case a board wants spares.

Why people choose us

Fewer rejections, more flexibility

We roll classifiable ink cards by hand and complete every field your out-of-state board requires, so fewer cards come back for a redo.

Ink-rolled, never digital

We roll true ink impressions on the hard card, the way out-of-state agencies require — not a printed digital scan.

Trained technicians

Careful rolling and the right pressure mean cleaner ridge detail and fewer cards rejected for smudges or smears.

Walk-in or mobile

Come to our San Jose office or have us travel to your home, office, or facility anywhere in the Bay Area.

Trilingual front desk

We help you in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese, so the form details and reason fields are filled in correctly.

Extra cards & redos

We roll spare cards on request and re-roll if a board ever asks for another set — just bring your ID.

Common reasons

What people use FD-258 cards for

Out-of-state nursing license

Nurses moving or endorsing into another state’s board often must mail an ink card with their application.

Bar admission & legal

Attorneys seeking admission in another state, and other regulated professionals, frequently need a hard card.

Real estate & contractor

Licensing and certification programs in other states accept ink FD-258 cards for their background check.

Teaching credentials

Out-of-state education agencies that cannot read California Live Scan accept a mailed ink card instead.

Immigration & consular

Some USCIS, consular, and adoption filings require a physical FD-258 card rather than electronic prints.

Attorneys ordering for a client

We roll FD-258 cards for a client’s immigration or court case; the person being printed simply brings a photo ID.

Questions people ask

Ink fingerprint card questions

Do you do ink fingerprint cards or only electronic Live Scan?
We hand-roll ink prints onto FD-258 hard cards. We do not print a digital scan onto the card, because agencies that ask for an ink card want a true rolled impression. If you instead need an electronic submission to the California DOJ or FBI, that is our separate Live Scan service.
Can I get an FD-258 card in California for an out-of-state license?
Yes. Many licensing boards, courts, and agencies in other states require a physical ink card mailed in rather than California Live Scan. We roll classifiable FD-258 cards in San Jose for any state, and you mail them with your application.
What do I need to bring to a fingerprint card appointment?
Bring a valid government photo ID and the FD-258 card your board sent you. If they did not send one, we keep blank cards on hand. Also bring any instructions listing the reason fingerprinted or an ORI number so we complete the card correctly.
How long does a fingerprint card appointment take?
A single card usually takes about 15 minutes, and most clients are in and out the same day. If you need several cards or are scheduling a mobile visit, call ahead so we can set aside time.
Can an attorney order fingerprint cards for a client’s case?
Yes. We roll FD-258 cards for a client’s immigration or court matter. The person being fingerprinted comes in with a photo ID, and we complete the card with the details the case requires. Attorneys can call ahead to arrange it.
Do you offer mobile fingerprinting if I cannot come to the office?
Yes. We travel to homes, offices, and facilities across San Jose and the Bay Area to roll ink cards on site. Mobile visits add a travel fee, which we confirm when you book.
What if a card is rejected or I need extra copies?
We roll spare cards on request, and if a board ever rejects a card for print quality we will re-roll it for you. Bringing one or two backups up front is the easiest way to avoid a second trip.
